Welcome to the East Jackson Middle School Website!
At East Jackson Middle we serve approximately 570 students in 6th and 7th grade. Our teachers are committed to providing students with remarkable experiences everyday and they are all in for all kids. Students attending East Jackson Middle have many opportunities both during and after school. We offer a variety of sports for our athletics as well as opportunities for students interested in the arts. East Jackson Middle also has an active FFA club.
Parent involvement is important to our school and we welcome all volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact the school.
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve the students, parents, faculty and staff of EastJacksonMiddle School in the position of Principal. I have worked for Jackson County Schools for last twelve years. During my time at EJMS, I have worked as a sixth and seventh grades teacher, Mathematics Department Chair, cheerleading coach, Teacher Mentor, and Instructional Coach. My passion truly is in interacting with and helping to meet the needs of middle school students.
In my role as an administrator, I will be working hard to help all students and teachers reach their goals of being successful. This year we will implement the new Common Core State Standards in Mathematics, Language Arts, and Literacy. During this implementation year, you will see that students are working at an increased level of rigor and will be exposed to greater depths of knowledge and understanding than they ever have before. Our goal is to help our students be ready for high school, college, and life beyond. In addition to our academic program, everyone at EastJacksonMiddle School will be working together to implement a Positive Behavior Intervention System, or PBIS. This system is designed to recognize students and staff for remembering to “Get A GRIP!” for good judgment, responsibility, integrity, and preparedness.
This year we will be offering several opportunities for parents to receive additional support. These Parent Support opportunities will be offered once a month and will include topics such as the Grading, Parent Resources, Academic Success, Cyber Safety, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and CRCT Preparation. Please look for information about these opportunities each month in the Monday Mail as well as on our website.
Please know that I am available at any time to help both students and parents. I can be reached by contacting the school or through email. Both contacts can be found on our website.
Again, I am very excited about this year and can’t wait to be a part of helping EJMS be the best that it can be!
I enter the 2017-2018 school year with great anticipation, excitement, and expectation. Our faculty has a renewed vision and focus on meeting the needs of our students through an innovative scheduling model and a purposeful plan to help our students make interdisciplinary connections.
In my 20 years at East Jackson Middle School, I have served as a teacher, reading and language arts department chair, instructional support teacher, instructional coach, and now assistant principal.
I am vested in this school and this community as a former Jackson County student myself, and now as a parent and educator. I can say in all honesty that I believe EJMS is a phenomenal school filled with quality teachers and amazing students!
