EJMS Named Blue Ribbon Schools Lighthouse School

East Jackson Middle School has been named a Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Lighthouse School, following an extensive assessment into the school's strengths. 

EJMS becomes the seventh school within the Jackson County School System to earn this honor, joining East Jackson Elementary School, East Jackson High School, the Empower College & Career Center, Maysville Elementary School, South Jackson Elementary School and West Jackson Middle School.

The Blue Ribbon Lighthouse distinction evaluates a school on a multitude of categories that include: school culture and climate; challenging curriculum; active teaching and learning, technology integration; professional community; leadership and evaluation vitality; school, family and community partnerships; and indicators of success.

The Lighthouse certification lasts five years for East Jackson Middle School, during which time school administrators and personnel will have the opportunity to collaborate with other schools on a local, regional and national level, as well as providing mentoring and networking to schools seeking guidance and assistance in school improvement initiatives.
